How it's worked out: enquiries a month × conversion rate × 12 × average fee. This is an illustration based on the figures you enter, not a forecast or a promise of results.

Using the figure sensibly

A calculator like this is useful for one thing: deciding whether a marketing budget is in proportion to what the work is worth. If ten extra conveyancing enquiries a month would be worth tens of thousands of pounds a year, a few hundred pounds a month on search marketing is easy to judge against it.

Keep three things in mind:

  • Capacity. Extra enquiries are only worth something if your team can take on the work.
  • Mix. A conveyancing fee and a serious injury case are very different. Run the calculator separately for each practice area.
  • Speed of response. Conversion rates depend heavily on how quickly enquiries get a reply. Faster responses usually mean more instructions from the same number of enquiries.

Enquiries a month multiplied by the percentage that become instructions gives new matters a month. Multiply by twelve for a year, then by your average fee per matter. It's simple arithmetic and the inputs are yours.

No. It shows what a given number of extra enquiries could be worth to your firm at your own conversion rate and fees. We don't promise any number of enquiries. It's a way to judge whether investing in marketing makes sense.

Use your average fee per matter excluding VAT and disbursements. If you want a more cautious view, use your average profit per matter instead.
